This book is a guide to diagnosing the diabetes gene. The result of a discussion by the Japan Diabetes Society’s Survey Committee on Diabetes Caused by Gene Abnormality, it was prepared with the aim of deepening general clinicians’ understanding of diabetes caused by gene abnormality. With the recent advances being made in the field of molecular biology, cases of diabetes due to gene abnormalities are now being identified. The book touches on a range of topics, including how to take family histories and make genealogical trees, ethical concerns accompanying genetic tests, and how to detect gene abnormalities.
