It is important to encourage the fostering of co-medical staff that can provide education of certified quality in order to improve the health and welfare of diabetes patients.

In cooperation with Japan Society of Metabolism and Clinical Nutrition and the Japan Academy of Diabetes Education and Nursing, the Japan Diabetes Society established the Japanese Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (JCBDE) in February 2000 with the aim of examining and certifying educational abilities.
